A wire and cable work together to safely distribute electricity to homes and businesses. Wires have many different uses. A great quantity of aluminum, copper, nickel and steel wire and cable are used for telephones, data wires, conductors in electric power transmission and heating. Solid wire and cable has one piece of metal wire. Stranded wire is composed of small-guage wires to make a larger conductor.
