Electrical engineering cables are used to carry electric currents. An optical cable consists of one or more optical fibers that are in a protecting jacket that supports the fibers.
A wire and cable work together to safely provide electricity to homes and businesses. Wires have many different uses. A great quantity of aluminum, copper, nickel and steel wire and cable are utilized for telephones, data wires, conductors in electric power transmission and heating. Solid wire and cable has one piece of metal wire. Stranded wire is comprised of small-guage wires to make a larger conductor.
